GCSE Mondays
To support home-schooled families with Maths, English and Science GCSEs we are offering
weekly group sessions every Monday from April 15th 2024, during term time.

Each Monday session is £45 for the whole day

GCSE Maths
Ruth Lovegrove has taught maths in the local homeschool community over the past two years. While Ruth did not have a good relationship with maths when she was younger and as a home school pupil herself, she managed to overcome her fear of Maths and gained an A* at GCSE level. She then went on to study Mathematics at A-level and at University. She has a great ability to explain complex mathematical ideas in an understandable way, and has a passion to help people who think they are 'not good at Maths' to understand that they just need to learn the language of Maths first.

In these sessions Ruth will be delivering content relating to the AQA GCSE Mathematics course.
GCSE English
Suzanna Moir will be teaching GCSE English. Suzanna is a U.K. qualified. secondary school English teacher and senior AQA and Edexcel GCSE Examiner. She is passionate about literature, creative writing and teaching. She has a calm and patient approach and likes to encourage confidence in her students. She can tailor classes to meet individual needs and different learning styles. She has a talent for unlocking inner sparks of hidden potential. She works with empathy, compassion, and humour, but knows exactly when to shift the gears to challenge, motivate and support students beyond stumbling blocks to success. Suzanna is an exceptional guide in the English arts and she will help you find your own unique path to success. She will be delivering content relating to the Edexcel iGCSE English Language course.
Functional IT Skills & GCSE Science Practicals
Dr Tom will be teaching Functional IT Skills and guiding interested pupils through the Science Required practicals, to help support their GCSE Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Functional IT Skills will include guidance and support for using word processing software, use of Google Classroom, Google Drive, Sheets/Excel, Slides, Email, functional use of new AI tools, online safety and reflections on Social Media use.

Since it is recognised that Science is best learned through experiments and practicals, it is also known that home schooling can often lack the resources needed to create and perform these practicals. To help meet this need within the Brighton Home-school community Dr Tom will be delivering GCSE Science practicals as part the GCSE Mondays Support lessons. These practicals will be in line with the iGCSE Edexcel Science course, and will support students towards both the Double Award, Triple Award, and Sings Science GCSE.
